Lubricants

The selection of suitable lubricants is of utmost importance for the operational reliability of a precision rolling bearing. They serve to reduce friction and wear. The majority of rolling bearings that do not achieve their intended service life fail due to deficiencies in lubrication.

The influencing factors to be considered are:

  • the speed,
  • the service temperature range,
  • the ageing,
  • the load ratio C/P,
  • the minimum required viscosity ν1, related to the mean rolling bearing diameter,
  • the lubrication condition κ,
  • the EP additives,
  • the water resistance,
  • the corrosion protection,
  • the noise development.

For this purpose, IBC keeps a whole range of high-quality greases in stock. With the corresponding suffixes, factory-greased high-precision rolling bearings can be obtained from IBC. With these high-precision rolling bearings, only the grease distribution run still has to be carried out by our customers. If these greases are required for service or pre-assembly, they can be obtained from IBC in tubes, cans or even larger containers according to the following scheme:

 GH76-400       400 g tube of grease GH76

GH62-1000       1 kg tin of grease GH62

Grease lubrication for rolling bearings

This is the simplest and thus the most cost-effective option to implement and is used in the majority of all rolling bearing arrangements. While lithium soap greases with a mineral base oil of relatively high viscosity are mainly used for standard deep groove ball bearings, special greases are used for high-speed applications.

Their synthetic oils and special thickeners allow significantly higher speed characteristics, due to their lower viscosity.
